with TS-Gustav heading into the Gulf and TS-Hanna moving towards the Bahamas, fun is on the way...  this weekend should bring some big waves for both Florida coasts...

all that nasty undertow was gone, and the waves were forming up a little nicer and cleaner thru the sets of the day...

there was a lot of rain and lightning out there, but it didn't seem to bother us, or the surfboarders too much, so we caught all the waves we wanted while the rest of the beach was empty...

pretty much another solid day for body-boarding, or body-surfing as someone demonstrated...  there were 20+ surfboarders out there posing as usual...

only thing to complain about was the sheer number of small red sea urchins we got to crunch under the water and pull out of our feet later on...

the waves were fairly decent, crashed a little fast and hard...  there was a lot of force that wanted to drag u back to shore...  so making it past the first series of breakers was tuff at times...

we were all tired and sore from before, so we didn't last long out there...  had some fun and packed it up hoping for easier waves in the future...

there were some 3-4ft crashers, maybe an occasional roller to be caught...

so u know how u can see the waves, and they look all big and fun, so u rush out there to catch em as fast as u can...  well what u dont see is the strong undercurrent trying to drag u south at about 5ft per second...

we tried our bestest for a while...  i messed with a new surfboard and managed to lose a fin...  by the time i was done with that, i had no energy left to play on the body-board...  there's always tommorrow...

the storm known as Fay delivered some waves finally...  and it shows promise to smack the gulfside again and push those bigger waves our way...

was perfect for body-boarding, the surfers were doing a lot of posing out there...  i got to try my new 6'8" surfboard out, got a few waves, but mostly posed waiting for the bigger ones...

there would be more pics, but Thing 1 and Thing 2 forgot the camera...

well around noon was when we showed up...  there were a lot of surfers out catching the 4-5ft crashers...  many people were busting on the steep waves, the ocean has no mercy...

i got to try my longboard out, it still needs work, water is supposed to be under the board, not inside it...  so i swapped for a body-board shortly...

got tumbled many times, knocked off my glasses and tried to break another board, but i didn't let the waves win...  i had a ton of fun for hours...

gonna have to go check out the beach again, supposedly leftover waves from the huge swell and winds we had yesterday and last night...  there's probably some waves to be had out there still...

we finally got some real waves to hit us all day wednesday...  and hit us they did, with a lotta UMPFH!  4-6ft waves pounding the beach...

tons of surfers out, was a great day, hours of fun...  got tossed many times, all in good fun, and even damaged a board...  oh well...

if u made it to the beach tuesday before noon, then there were some nice rollers to be had for a few hours...  then they fizzled out as the day went on, proving that predictions are not always accurate...

after the storms were past, the beach filled up fast...
lots of surfboarders down between the South and Middle piers...
good fun for hours, i still want more...

we'll see what tomorrow brings, i suspect leftovers...
they'll be small but rideable for a while...
