it was way frothy when i got there at 8am, i was gonna give up and head home...  but i stuck around a while and the waves cleaned up a bit...  lots of surfers came, looked, and left...  while i was suiting up head to toe...

caught the biggest ride first off...  took me way down the beach, so far i got out and walked back up...  had a decent time, caught 2-3 really good waves, as well as some cruddy ones...  played for about an hour, then it died down...

no more waves for a while...  boo hoo :(

i showed up and looked at it late in the afternnoon, while it was still blowing freezing air...  even i was uninterested at what the waves had to offer...

there were a lot of surfers out there...  most in wetsuits...  water temp was a chilly 60 degrees...  nice and sunny though, mild winds...  a nice day...

caught more than enuff fun waves around noon...  it slowed down some as the day went on...  looking forward to tommorrow...  more big waves...!

new pictures added...  and my first homemade YouTube 8 second surf video...  enjoy...!

i decided to listen to the forcasts, and delayed my arrival at the beach till around 3pm...  there were already 5 surfers in the water catching decent small rides close to shore in the protection of the middle pier... as the day went on, more surfers showed up, i'd say there were at most 15...

there was quite a strong southernly current...  i walked the beach back up to the north pier at least 5+ times...  i wore a wetsuit as well as my hoody so my head was warm, but i couldn't hear anything...  i was comfy in the wind/rain, and managed to catch a number of pretty decent waves...

i caught most of those 3-4ft waves that nobody else was trying to, out near the buoys, all thanks to my big black surf-board...  was fun, hope for more waves tommorrow morning...  see you out there...  hopefully...

im not familiar with St. Pete or its many beaches...  so i drove north and south and checked some of them out...  it was not a huge wave day, but i got to see the layout of the different surf spots...

i picked the St Petersburg Municipal Beach at Treasure Island, near where Central meets the Gulf Blvd, cause some waves were playable...

the first time i went out was early at 8am...  i caught some fun rides on my body-board, and someone was body-surfing a lot of waves also...

then later i got to catch some small 3-4ft curls on my black surf-board...  thing 1 and thing 2 were body-boarding quite sucessfully, and someone was body-surfing again...

was a sunny wave day out at the beach...  where is everyone...?
